How to Remove Glitter from Skin, Hair and Clothes

Had the best night ever and now you're covered in sparkle? Here's how to remove glitter from your face, body, hair and clothes, gently and without scrubbing your skin.

How to Remove Face Glitter

  1. Apply an oil-based makeup remover or cleansing balm and massage it over the glitter.
  2. Leave it for a few seconds to break down the gel and any colour.
  3. Wipe away with a soft cloth or cotton pad, pressing then sweeping rather than rubbing.
  4. Rinse and cleanse with your usual face wash.

For eyes, use a gentle eye makeup remover and take your time.

How to Remove Body Glitter

  1. Massage in a body oil such as coconut or baby oil to loosen the glitter.
  2. Wipe away with a soft cloth or an oil-based cleansing wipe, using circular motions.
  3. Shower with warm water and your usual body wash.

How to Remove Glitter from Hair

  1. Brush through dry hair with a fine-tooth comb to loosen glitter.
  2. Lift stubborn bits from the roots with a piece of tape.
  3. Shampoo as normal. You may need to wash twice after a heavy glitter day.

Glitter Removal Tips

  • Remove as much glitter as possible with a cloth before rinsing.
  • Oil is your best friend. It breaks down gel and makes glitter slide off.
