Our bioglitter is crafted in Germany, where every sparkle is born from a blend of innovation and eco-conscious practices. The magic begins with eucalyptus cellulose sourced from sustainable and responsibly managed plantations across Europe.

Imagine bioglitter as a tiny adventurer embarking on a journey back to nature. When it finds itself in the embrace of a natural environment like a field or a river, it begins its magical transformation.

In these enchanting settings, friendly microbes, like nature's little cleanup crew, start their work. They feast upon the biodegradable components of the glitter, breaking it down into harmless substances. The speed of this process is like a dance between moisture, temperature, and microbial activity.

If the conditions are just right—warm and moist—the microbes throw a glittery party, and biodegradation can happen relatively quickly, within a few weeks. But if the environment is cooler or drier, the process may take a bit longer, stretching out over a few months.

Bioglitter is made from eco-friendly materials that break down naturally, just like your banana peels and coffee grounds. When you toss it into your home compost, it becomes part of a magical transformation, where microbes work their enchanting powers to turn it into nutrient-rich soil.

Unlike traditional plastic glitter, which lingers for centuries, bioglitter says, "Farewell, and thank you for the memories!" as it gracefully biodegrades. In just a few weeks to a few months, depending on factors like moisture and temperature, it transforms into compost that can nourish your garden and help new life bloom.

All ranges have a special cellulose core derived from hardwoods, primarily eucalyptus, sustainably sourced from responsibly managed and certified plantations operating to PEFC™ standards.

Sparkle Range:

  • 87% biodegradation achieved in 28 days. Which is just 3 percentage points away from meeting the incredibly high performance criteria required be awarded TÜV’s fresh water certification.

Shellac is used in the Shimmer and Holographic Ranges.

  • The shellac is produced from the secreted resin left behind on bark by the female lac insect.
  • Approved by The Vegetarian Society.
  • Widely used in food coatings such as cake glaze.
  • This is a natural and environmentally friendly process and no insects are harmed in this.
  • This does mean these ranges are not vegan friendly.

The mica used in Bioglitter is naturally sourced from the USA.
