DIY Glitter Face Mask for a Sparkly Pamper Night
Glitter face masks are the ultimate fusion of skincare and self-care, because who doesn’t want to shine while pampering their skin? Many glitter face masks you can buy use plastic glitter, so making your own lets you choose a plant-based alternative.
Our glitter is made with Bioglitter®, which uses a plant-based cellulose film instead of plastic film. Creating your own glitter mask is simple, fun and easy to customise.
Why DIY Your Glitter Face Mask?
- Plant-based sparkle: Bioglitter® swaps plastic film for cellulose. For plastic-free sparkle, choose our Shimmer or Electric Sherbet ranges, made with Bioglitter® PURE.
- Simple ingredients: kitchen-cupboard bases like honey and clay.
- Fully customisable: adjust the recipe to suit your skin.

DIY Glitter Face Mask Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tsp Luminosity Chunky Biodegradable Glitter: for that dazzling, multi-dimensional sparkle.
- 1 tbsp honey: a natural humectant that helps skin hold on to moisture.
- ½ tbsp aloe vera gel: cooling and soothing.
- ½ tbsp kaolin or bentonite clay: helps absorb excess oil.
- 1–2 tsp rose water (or distilled water): to loosen the texture into a smooth, brushable paste.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Combine clay and honey: in a small glass or ceramic bowl, mix the clay and honey until a smooth paste forms.
- Adjust the consistency: stir in the aloe vera gel and add rose water a few drops at a time until the mixture is easy to spread.
- Fold in the sparkle: gently fold in your Luminosity Glitter so it’s evenly spread through the paste.
- Apply evenly: using a clean brush or silicone applicator, smooth an even layer over clean, dry skin, keeping well away from the eyes and lips.
- Relax and glow: leave the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes. (Pro tip: snap a few sparkly selfies while you wait!)
- Remove gently: wipe the mask away with a soft, damp cloth, then rinse your face with warm water. Wiping first keeps most of the glitter out of the drain.
- Hydrate: pat your face dry and apply your favourite moisturiser.
Pro Tips for the Best Results
- Always patch test: even natural ingredients can cause reactions. Test a small amount on your inner arm or jawline 24 hours before, and don’t use the mask on broken or irritated skin.
- Make it fresh: mix a new batch each time and don’t store leftovers.
- Be gentle: Bioglitter® feels soft, but always remove the mask gently without scrubbing to protect your skin barrier.
