How to Create Glitter Tears for Halloween

Luminosity Glitter

Halloween is the ultimate time to experiment with bold, theatrical, and otherworldly makeup. If you want a show-stopping look that combines dark drama with high-impact sparkle, glitter tears are the ultimate festive trend.

Whether you’re channeling a classic silver siren, a blood-red glam vampire, or a mystical cosmic witch, this tutorial will show you how to craft 3D peel-and-stick glitter tears using parchment paper and any shade from the Luminosity Cosmetic Glitter collection.

SAFETY FIRST: Never apply hot glue directly to your skin! We will be crafting these glitter tear appliqués separately on parchment paper, letting them cool completely, and sticking them safely to your face using lash glue.

What You’ll Need

  • Luminosity Glitter (Choose any colour or shade combo!)
  • Small craft hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Non-stick parchment paper or a silicone craft mat
  • Eyelash adhesive or skin-safe body glue
  • Tweezers (for precise application)
  • Your standard Halloween eye makeup setup (primer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara)
  • Setting spray

Step-by-Step Guide: 3D Halloween Glitter Tears

Step 1: Prep Your Makeup Base

  1. Apply your daily skincare, primer, and foundation base.
  2. Build your eye makeup look to complement your chosen glitter colors.
  3. Finish your eyes with liner and mascara, leaving the cheekbone area directly under your eyes clean for the tears.

Step 2: Craft Your 3D Tear Drops (Off-Face!)

  1. Lay a sheet of non-stick parchment paper on a flat, heat-resistant workspace.
  2. Heat up your craft glue gun.
  3. Gently squeeze out teardrop shapes directly onto the parchment paper. Vary the lengths, create a few long dripping lines and several small droplets for a realistic tear-streaked effect.
  4. Add the Sparkle: While the glue is still warm and tacky, generously dust your chosen Luminosity Glitter over every droplet.
  5. Let the glue cool down and harden completely (about 3-5 minutes).

Step 3: Peel & Arrange

  1. Once fully cool, gently peel your hardened glitter tears off the parchment paper.
  2. Shake off any excess loose glitter.
  3. Hold the drops up to your face with tweezers to map out your placement before gluing them down.

Step 4: Safely Adhere to Your Skin

  1. Apply a thin line of eyelash glue or skin-safe body adhesive to the flat backside of each craft tear.
  2. Wait 20-30 seconds for the lash glue to become tacky.
  3. Using tweezers, gently press each glitter tear onto your face, starting just below your lower lash line and running down your cheekbones.

Step 5: Lock It In

Touch up your lower lash line with a tiny bit of extra fine cosmetic glitter if desired, and set your entire face with a generous spritz of setting spray.

Pro-Tips & Removal

  • Multi-Dimensional Sparkle: Try dusting a fine glitter shade first, followed by a light sprinkle of a chunkier glitter shade onto the hot glue for extra light reflection.
  • Easy Removal: To remove, gently peel the glue tears off your skin (they should pop off effortlessly thanks to the lash glue) and clean your face with an oil-based makeup remover or warm water.
